What “match” means in an imported list

How the match figure is worked out and what a low one tells you.

After importing from Sales Navigator you will see a Match label on each lead, and a filter for it at the top of the list. It answers one question: does this person actually fit the filters you searched on?

Why it is needed

Sales Navigator is not precise. A search can return up to about 30% profiles that do not really meet the criteria you set — the wrong seniority, the wrong company size, the wrong location.

Rather than make you spot those by hand, LinkedLeads re-checks each imported lead against the search's filters and flags the ones that do not fit.

What to do with it

Filter on Match before you do anything else with a new list. It takes seconds and it stops you spending invitations, messages and campaign steps on people who were never in your target group.

A list with an unusually low match rate is also a signal about the search itself — it usually means one filter is being interpreted more loosely than you expected, and the search is worth rebuilding.
