Prospect the members of a LinkedIn group
Use shared membership as the reason you are getting in touch.
Group members are a good target for two reasons: joining a group is a declaration of interest in a subject, and shared membership gives you a genuine reason for the first message.
What you need
1. Build the search
In Sales Navigator, search for members of a group you belong to. Add whatever other filters matter — seniority, geography, company size — to narrow it to the people actually worth contacting.
2. Import it
Import the search the same way as any other. A new list appears under Leads.
Filter on Match before you go further — see what “match” means.
3. Build a campaign around the shared membership
Create a campaign targeting the list, and use the group in the connection request or first message. The whole point is that you have something true and specific to open with:
Hello {{firstname}},
I've just joined the LinkedIn group [group name], and I'm reaching out to members to talk about [topic].
Is that still something you're working on?
Then launch it.
Why this works
The opening line is not a pretext. You are both in the group, the topic is one they signed up to hear about, and the message says exactly why they are getting it. That is a much better position than a cold approach with a manufactured reason.
