Create a label

Name a label, give it a colour, and start applying it.

Labels are your own tags. Create one anywhere labels appear — the inbox, a member's chat, a pipeline — and it works the same way in all three.

Creating one

  1. Click Manage labels to open the label panel.
  2. Click + Create a label.
  3. Give it a name and a colour.
The inbox sidebar with the labels section listing existing labels, each with a coloured dot.
Labels live in the sidebar, and the panel is reached from the same place.
A conversation's right-hand panel with a labels section showing Growth Hacker and Top Candidate applied to this lead.
The same labels shown where they are used — on a lead, in the chat panel.
A pipeline board header with a Select labels control beside the search field.
And on a board, where the label filter narrows the cards on show.
  1. Click Create.
The label panel open in the left sidebar, listing existing labels such as Account Manager, Follow and Hot Lead.
The label panel, reached from Manage labels. The highlight marks the button that opens it.
The new-label dialog with a title field and a grid of colour swatches.
Name the label and pick a colour. The highlights mark the title field and the swatch grid.
The label list with a newly created label named Warm lead at the bottom.
The finished label, highlighted where it now appears in the list.

It is immediately available everywhere in LinkedLeads that labels can be applied.

Choosing labels worth having

A label is only useful if it changes what you do next. Hot lead does; Maybe interesting does not.

Two that tend to earn their place:

  • A stage you cannot express as a pipeline column — Asked to be contacted in Q3
  • A source — From the conference, when you want to be able to reconstruct a list later

Colour carries meaning at a glance in a busy list, so use it deliberately: one colour for temperature, another for source, rather than picking whatever comes next.
